This week, UCycle reached over 100 online contest participants (101 to be exact) with a total of over 8,000km cycled – what a week. Trent is currently in the lead with 31 students signed up, doubling the number of participants at the two schools tied for second (Windsor and McMaster with 15 participants each). With two months remaining in the online contest, it’s still anyone’s game. Offline, we hosted group rides for students in Oakville, Windsor and Thunder Bay. Each of the rides had a food theme – in Oakville, we stopped at Chocolate Alphabet for some delicious gelato, in Windsor, we ended our ride with a group picnic by the water and the Thunder Bay ride brought students to the Farmer’s Market. Good food is an essential part of a good bike ride! During week 4 we continued to promote the bike racks on the front of public buses as a great tool for cyclists. UCycle was on site at Sheridan College with Oakville Transit and Councillor Pam Damoff to help students try out the bus bike racks. Thanks also to James from Racer Sportif for providing students with free bike tune-ups as part of this event. We hope you are enjoying the cooler biking weather – see you around campus!
