The beginning of a new school year also meant the launch of UCycle at 8 participating campuses. We’ve had a wonderful first week engaging with students, organizing events and cruising around campus on our bikes. Week #1 highlights include:
- Talking bikes with students at Clubsfest booths across Ontario;
- A morning ride to campus along the Rotary Trail with Directors from the Trent Central Student Union (TCSA), and;
- Bike Day Celebrations at the University of Waterloo, which included a group ride, a bike sale and free coffee, lights and bike tune-ups for students.
We are also pleased that students have started signing up for our online contest. Contest participants can track the km they cycle and are eligible to win great prizes. As an added bonus, the school with the highest proportion of students signed up will win $500 to put towards their next cycling project. So far, participants have biked a total of 600km – the equivalent of biking from Queen’s University to the University of Windsor. Let’s keep the momentum going and bike all the way up to our friends at Lakehead University! For more UCycle updates, follow us on Twitter (@UCycleOntario) and on Facebook.
